Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses concentrated beams of light (lasers) to target and remove unwanted hair. The laser emits a precise wavelength of light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicles. This absorption of light energy heats up the follicles, impairing them and inhibiting or delaying future hair growth.
The practice is widely used to eliminate hair from various parts of the body, including the face, legs, underarms, bikini line, and more.
At Luminova Care, we utilize the highly acclaimed Venue Velocity by Venus Concept for all of our laser hair removal treatments.
Laser hair removal offers several advantages over traditional hair removal methods such as shaving, waxing, and tweezing:
Long-lasting results: Laser hair removal can lead to significant reduction or even permanent hair loss in treated areas over multiple sessions.
Precision: The laser can target coarse and dark hairs while leaving surrounding skin undamaged.
Speed: Each laser pulse takes a fraction of a second and can treat multiple hairs at once. Small areas like the upper lip can be treated in less than a minute, while larger areas like the back or legs take longer.
Predictability: Most people experience a notable reduction in hair growth after several sessions, and the regrown hair tends to be finer and lighter in color. The number of sessions can vary per person depending on age, hormone fluctuations, and hair color and density.
Less ingrown hairs: Unlike shaving and waxing, which can lead to ingrown hairs, laser hair removal significantly reduces the likelihood of this occurring.
It's important to note that laser hair removal is not completely permanent for everyone. Some individuals may experience regrowth after a certain period of time, and maintenance sessions may be necessary to keep the desired results.
The success of laser hair removal can vary based on factors such as the individual's hair color, skin type, and hormonal influences. People with lighter skin and darker hair tend to respond best to the procedure, as the contrast between their skin color and hair color makes it easier for the laser to target the hair follicles.
